Throughout the month of October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Hinman Construction is happy to support local nonprofits like Wellspring who are participating in the Purple Purse Challenge.
About the Wellspring organization
“After more than 33 years of placing an emphasis on crisis intervention and support services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, we announced a new mission and vision—one that focuses on a need to be proactive, and to engage all of Saratoga County in ending relationship and sexual abuse. To better reflect this revised mission and vision, we also updated our name to Wellspring.
In our time, Wellspring has assisted tens of thousands of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault—whether they needed an escape, were looking for advice, or sought to improve their quality of life, Wellspring was here for them. Wellspring is part of your community—we exist to serve you and your loved ones, and while we continue offering our essential safety, intervention, and support services, but we want to do more.
We believe that the expanded focus in our work– educating our community about these issues and advocating for social change– can help to prevent abuse and crises before they happen. In fact, our vision for Wellspring is ‘A Saratoga County free of relationship and sexual abuse.’”

About the Purple Purse Challenge
The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge is an annual friendly fundraising competition in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Nonprofit organizations serving domestic violence survivors around the U.S. compete to raise the most money. The top fundraisers have the opportunity to win grand prize cash donations totaling $350,000 from The Allstate Foundation.
The Purple Purse Challenge runs from Monday, October 2 at 12 p.m. ET through Tuesday, October 31 at 1:59:59 p.m. ET.
And, the best part of the Challenge is that even if an organization doesn’t win any of the grand prize money, each gets to keep the money raised during the campaign.
